We create soft, snuggly pillowcases and baby blankets for children in shelters and hospitals. Each pillowcase has a tag that says "you are loved." One friend referred to the pillowcases as "little life rafts" that the child can take with them on their journey, and I think that is an appropriate description.
your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals. Each pillowcase costs about $6 in materials. All labor is volunteer! We have made hundreds thus far. The donate button will take you to our contact page. Let us know your interest and we can provide instructions on receiving your donation. Thanks!!
We had the good fortune to deliver 40 pillowcases and 15 pillows (!) to one of our new venues, Consuelo's Place, an emergency shelter for those experiencing homelessness, particularly the elderly and women with children. A new contributor, Cindy Orion, made and donated pillowcases with pillows (!), an extra that was needed at this particular venue. Thank you for making all of this possible! Every donation is applied to fabric and transformed into love. With heartfelt gratitude, Julie and Mathew
Hello Friends! Our "you are loved" pillowcases were delivered to Esperanza Shelter along with other needed items for the children and moms. Pillowcases4Love received a lovely thank you note along with photos of the pillowcases being bagged and received. We have several to share with you of the process and staff. Thank you so much for making such a difference in the lives of so many children. YOU ARE LOVED!! Julie and Mathew
Happy early Labor Day wishes to you.
Mathew and I have been busy making our latest pillowcases - princesses, puppy dogs, flamingos, beach-going avocados, and more!
AND, I just delivered a large batch to Santa Fe Senior Services who are gathering items to support children and women at our local Esperanza Shelter. Their mission is "to shelter those threatened by domestic violence and to support healthy relationships." We are so grateful for your enthusiasm to help us spread the love and bring smiles to little ones. Julie and Mathew
Happy summer to everyone! Mathew and I have been super busy creating colorful reminders for children that they are loved, cherished, and welcomed. These pillowcases feature lots of summer fun including watermelon slices, flavorful popsicles, swimming fish, sailboats, and beach vibes. Our hope is that each child receiving a pillowcase experiences warmth and delight from having something of their very own, made just for them. As they lay their little heads down to sleep accompanied by the message "you are loved" we wish them sweet dreams and their parents some ease amid the upheaval in their lives.
May we all remember to remind each other "you are loved."
With deep gratitude for your support, Julie and Mathew
Greetings all, wow it is already July! Mathew and I have been delighting in summertime fabrics. We just made another delivery to Christus St Vincent's pediatric unit and included happy cacti, choo-choo trains, animal alphabets, and hearts galore. Our next delivery to the border happens in a few weeks and we are poised to send another 100 or so as reminders that love still persists in this complicated world. Thank you for helping us spread this message that "you are loved!!" It IS what the world needs now. With deep gratitude, Julie and Mathew
Your generosity and support continues to reach more and more vulnerable children! This week Julie made our first delivery of pillowcases and receiving blankets to Christus St Vincent's pediatric hospital wing. They were so excited to receive these that they wanted a photo of Julie and the Chief Clinical Nurse Manager, Sabrina.
The photo and a short write-up about the project / gifts were included in this month's CSV newsletter. So much love and caring spread around :-). Thank you for your continued compassion as we continue to sew and sew!
With heart-felt gratitude, Julie and Mathew
Another delivery commenced to the three border shelters. This time we included 80 pillowcases of butterflies, happy frogs, cars of all kinds, and sea turtles. We also sent a few receiving blankets (stars and moons, kittens, and dragonflies), women's underwear, stuffed teddy bears, various sundries, and a few more items that we had collected. Even though we have met our 500 pillowcase goal (yay!!), our work continues as families continue to seek asylum.
AND, the quilts Julie and Mathew have donated to help raise money for the Pillowcases4Love project are receiving attention. The quilts are available as expressions of our gratitude for donations of varied amounts. One has been adopted and three are still available. AND we have also begun making receiving blankets for mom's with newborns and will now be including those with our deliveries. AND Julie and Mathew have donated several of their handmade quilts to help raise money for this project.
